“On the Twelfth Day of Christmas My True Love Gave to Me . . . .”  Sixth grade math students are learning more that just the words about this familiar carol.  The first Monday after Thanksgiving the PNC financial group from Pittsburg , Pennsylvania posts the prices for each gift given in the song.  For 23 years they have researched current prices for the items which are collectively known as the Christmas Price Index.  This closely coordinates with the Consumer Price Index.  Sixth graders are learning a great deal in these lessons about consumerism, economy, careers, and general financial savvy.  We are having lots of fun and learning tons about math in real life as we sing along to and work with the words from “The Twelve Days of Christmas”.  By the way, how many total gifts does the “true love” send?  Sixth graders know the answer and will soon know how much they cost.  WOW!  What a price tag comes with true love!!!!

Have a safe and Merry Christmas and New Year."

Sixth Graders are now reading a novel called "Number the Stars".  It is about the Danish people during the time of Hitler.  Students are learning about Jewish traditions, understanding more about Hitler, and opening their eyes to History outside of the US.

This will really help them understand the Holocaust Museum during their Houston trip.

Keep on reading 6th graders!!!
